I am a passionate software developer, both as a hobby and as a career.
I found my life's work to be in software engineering during my high school career.
Mr. Tony Vance and Mrs. Jane Abel at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas
are responsible for inciting this passion through their tutoring and
guidance. I come from a family of engineers, my father of which is an
electrical engineer. I honestly can't change the oil on my car, at least
without almost killing myself in the process, and have always felt a
little saddened by this fact. However, when I discovered I could
create and invent with software, I discovered how I would make up for
this void.
I graduated summma cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington
in December of 2004. From there, I joined the SourceProse corporation
as a software engineer for
FloodSource. After
TransUnion's
acquisition of FloodSource, I
was moved to Austin, Texas to further develop their flood solution
systems. Recently, I've been moved to new and exciting initiatives,
including development of new systems from the ground up. These systems
are still in the works, and are not quite yet public, but they are very
exciting.
Personally, I enjoy quite a bit of living outside of computers. I have
a huge passion for Texas Hold'em. There is something great about facing
opponents in a game where your intelligence and management of body
language determine your dominating abilities. I read about it,
I play it as often as I can
(both affording in time and money), and I find it to be a great way
to figure out people. By this last statement, I literally mean who they
are, how they view life, and how they approach problems.
While I am on competitive activities, I also study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
under William Vandry. I currently
carry a blue belt which I earned from
Texas Self-Defence Academy,
and would love to some day reach my goal of black belt. I enjoy
this activity because it keeps me in great shape, is very competitive,
and has just the right hint of danger. However, I fight with some very
trustworthy, professional, and well-trained people, and I haven't witnessed
anyone actually get hurt in any of my classes.
Of course, I have my own personal software projects on the side. This website and
my blog are a small
glimpse into my current projects. I'm actually using this site as a test
on Dynamic DNS on my home server
running Tomcat.
Some day, I am hoping to find a calling that will allow me to
start my own business. On that day, lookout world...
